It’s almost here again - our Christmas Tree harvest season!! It has been a relatively good growing season for our trees - timely moisture in the spring and now we could use a good, soaking rain. Our supply of Christmas trees is very good this year with some beautiful scotch pines, some gorgeous white pine even exceeding 10’ tall, and some norway spruce.
As far as family news goes - the big event was Jenna and Bryce’s wedding (Jenna is the middle granddaughter). While they married this summer in the Grand Tetons at Jackson Hole, we were also able to celebrate them here at the farm this September. All went well, thank goodness, and we are thrilled to welcome Bryce Niewoehner into the family! As for the rest of the granddaughters, Jess is at Rice University in Houston working on her PhD in Economics. Jill, the youngest, is now at Mizzou and working towards a degree in Physical Therapy. Jenna also started working towards a doctorate in nursing this spring. The rest of us are just surviving.
Digging is just starting for the fall nursery season, so cool temperatures and adequate moisture would be appreciated.
Our gift shop will be up and well-stocked thanks to Karen who gets stuck with so many jobs. Hay rides to the fields will be available, free hot chocolate, Santa, and of course a food truck, winery, and popcorn - all on the weekends. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be open to get a tree and peruse the gift shop - hours are still 9 til 5 on our ‘open days’.
We are looking forward to a great holiday season - hoping we can provide our faithful customers with the ‘stuff’ that memories are made of. Please join us here in the valley we love for a day full of fun and memories.
Opening day will be Saturday, November 21st (the weekend before Thanksgiving) - followed by the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after Thanksgiving, and then all weekends before Christmas.
Yours in trees,
The Roods
